Qiaoxi’sDesign

As a UX/UI designer, I'm passionate about seamlessly transitioning everyday experiences into the digital world.
I see UX design as the blueprint for a rapidly evolving digital landscape. In an age of information overload, I believe designs should be straightforward, easy to learn, and enhance rather than complicate our lives.
My goal is to create practical, fun, and memorable digital experiences that are both useful and engaging.

My Experiences

I am an independent, detail-oriented, and proactive UX designer with a background in biological science and six years of clinical experience as a vascular sonographer working in vascular surgery. Driven by a thirst for creativity, I transitioned to UX design, finding it the perfect field to combine my healthcare experience with design strategies to improve the overall user experience.

In my three-year design career, I've worked on projects for non-profit startups, individuals, and various government agencies, including NIH, FDA, USDA, and NSF. I played a key role in maintaining and redesigning Westat’s intranet, and my redesign of a survey questionnaire was instrumental in Westat securing a contract renewal to support the PATH (Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health) study—a critical 35-year national health study that interviewed 49,000 participants this year.

Additionally, I designed the USDA Family Child Home Care Survey portal, enabling the survey team to meet their 1,400 participant quota in just one month, a task that was originally allotted three months. This project ultimately collected data from 5,300 participants and served as a management system for approximately 200 providers.

My skills

Transitioning from a non-design background wasn’t easy, but my previous work experience has become the foundation of the designer I am today.

Over six years, I honed my ability to connect deeply with people, understand their needs, and solve their problems—skills rooted in empathy. My time in a chaotic, high-pressure clinical environment sharpened my ability to listen closely and pick up on the tiniest details, even in the noisiest situations.

This empathy fuels my design process, enabling me to create user-centered solutions that truly resonate. Known for my fast turnaround, outside-the-box thinking, and collaborative spirit, I consistently deliver high-quality projects on time. My unique blend of healthcare experience and design skills allows me to forge meaningful connections and bring them to life in my work.

Outside of work

When I'm not designing, you'll find me chasing thrills outdoors—whether I'm scaling rocks or carving through fresh powder on my snowboard.
I love getting creative in the kitchen and doodling flowers whenever inspiration strikes. And let’s not forget my two fluffy stress-busters, Apricot (orange tabby) and Uzi (American shorthair), who keep me company through it all!
